Journals and printers and monitors oh my!

So as you can tell by the somewhat madcap title of this post, it’s been a week of acquiring stuff! I was given a new monitor for my PC, and also a new printer as my old one died from overuse :(. Not only that, but I’ve become kind of obsessed with handmade journals. I love leather journals, especially the ones that look and feel old, and with that in mind I got some from Earthworks Journals – ( and also one on eBay. A while ago I bought one from a fellow OBODie who does fantastic leatherwork, but I’m saving that as my Ovate journal. I’m thinking the Earthworks one would be an ideal Druid grade journal, so may save that too and use my eBay purchase as a current journal for my ritual work outside of the Bardic course. I prefer to have  a separate book for everything as I’m a little strange that way lol. I also have what you might call a Book of Shadows that I handmade myself, to use as a reference book.

So right now I am combining the mystical powers of the Internet, technology and my ye olde looking journal to find some beautiful pictures to include within its’ pages. Then I will update it with my plans for Lughnasadh, and maybe take some photographs once I have set up the altar for Lughnasadh. 🙂

It feels lovely to have time to myself, to do things like this. I missed this kind of thing during my training year. 🙂

It’s been a long while…

but I’m back finally. Life is kind of relaxed at the moment, my course is over and I have some time on my hands to relax and reconnect with my sense of who I am and what’s important to me. I’ve been watching loads of Youtube videos, kind of connecting with the world again as I feel like I’ve been locked in a box for so long, concentrating on only one thing. But now I can unwind again and spend time in nature, reading and reconnecting.

It’s 8 years this summer that I embarked on my path. It’s been quite a winding path and I’ve actually ended up somewhere I never envisioned in the beginning. That’s actually really cool. At the same time though, I’m finding I’m being called back to aspects of my path that fascinated and inspired me in the beginning. This is perhaps the most surprising thing but it feels right and I feel confident that it will merge well with my beliefs and the Druid tradition.

I rededicated my altar. It actually felt really special. It’s very much a focal point in my room now, and it feels good. I think it might be the effect of the newfound acceptance I’ve received from those I live with. It’s nice in the sense that I have a little time on my hands to get back into things and try out some new old stuff.
